    My Name is Clifford Lu.  I am a senior at Gaither High School in
Tampa Florida. I have been invited as a special guest artist to join the
Bloomingdale Orchestra who has been invited by the Beijing International
Youth Festival Organizing Committee to participate in the American
Orchestral Salute to the 2008 Beijing Olympics from June 23rd through
July 2nd, 2008. The Bloomingdale High School Orchestra is the only high
school orchestra in the nation slated to "Perform in Harmony with
Olympic Spirit".

We will be performing side-by-side with Chinese musicians in Shanghai
and Beijing and are the only orchestra that has been selected to perform
for a stand-alone concert in the Forbidden City Concert Hall. This
invitation is an incredible honor for our school and an
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us. 

Since we will be performing a stand-alone concert, we are requesting
donations to enable us to take seventy members of our symphony
orchestra. The total cost per student is $3,700 for the ten day tour. No
gift is too small and will be greatly appreciated! 

In order for a donation to be tax-deductible, it must be made out to the
Hillsborough Education Foundation. Please write "Bloomingdale Orchestra
China Trip" on the memo line of your check and include the enclosed
sponsorship insert with your donation. All donations must be mailed to
the following address:

Words cannot express the impact this trip will have upon my life. To be
included in such a significant world event is an honor and a huge
responsibility for us as musicians and as Americans as we represent the
United States in the official orchestral celebration of the 2008 Beijing
Summer Olympics.
