Subject: We had a wonderful Asian Pacific Rim Festival--Thank you for your help and support
Dear TCCTF members and friends:
This is just a quick note to express my sincere appreciation to all of you who volunteered and helped last Saturday at the 1st Annual Asian Pacific Rim Festival at Pinellas Park.
It was a beautiful day and the turn out was greater than expected. The Taiwan booths had visiters all day long. We exhausted our food supply and Taiwan brochures in English. Pinellas Park had such warm welcome to all of us that I am sure the second Asian Pacific Rim festival will get bigger and better.
A lot of thanks go to the Joy Luck Dancing Group who performed two pieces of Taiwanese Folk dance and Dr. Li-Tsun Chen who performed artistic tai-chi for the audience. Mrs. Li-Tsun Chen brought two big trays of Taiwanese Persimmon cake free for all. Besides the cultural performances, I want to thank all who volunteered in the Taiwan Booth. Dr. & Mrs. Charles Hwang, Dr. & Mrs. S. C. Huang, Mrs. Li-Ling Hu, Mrs. Gui-Min Yang, Mr. Chen-Shih Hu, Mr. & Mrs. Chen-Jong Lin, Mr. San-Fu Lee, Mr. Feng-Yi Chen, Ms. Kerry Chen, Mr. Robert Chen and his faithful friends, and the new young professional, Mr. Jeff Yeh (who perfected the cotton candy making in a few trys). My thanks also go to the Tampa Chinese School for providing sweet egg rolls for food sale.
Beside the food sale and culture displays, the participation of Got Tea Restaurant, the Tzi-Chi and Budism group, the Omega Mushroom Corp., Eva Chen's Arts & Crafts etc also represented the diversity and richness of the Taiwanese Culture. Overall, as the first time participant, I think Taiwan made a great impression to the general public. Without your enthusiasm and volunteering, Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce could not have done it alone.
Thanks also go to all who showed up in the park. Without your support, cheer, applause and smile, our show would have less meaning. You are the one who added a lot of pleasure for all of us who volunteered.
Two young professionals from Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce worth special mention. By now you know they are Kerry Chen and Robert Chen. Kerry Chen has representing TCCTF and gone to numerous SPIFF meetings. Her inputs and spirits are highly appreciated by SPIFF. Kerry is appointed secretary of SPIFF and will co-chair the big SPIFF event in March. Robert Chen oversaw the Taiwan Booth and made sure the operation ran smoothly. Their cooperation and can-do spirit work beautifully together.
The first Annual Pacific Rim Festival marked a new beginning for Taiwanese in the Tampa Bay area. We learned a lot from working together this time. With your support, we will continue to build the momentum and experience. We invite and anticipate your participation in the future.
Enjoy the good weather and see you at our workshop in December.
Warm regard,
Linda Wu
