[Genealib] Genealogy periodical usage

Nancy: We don't have usage stats, but a general observation is that our
county historical and genealogical periodicals (which are filed in the main
county sections) get pulled just as much as the history and cemetery books
beside them. We don't see as many patrons in the aisles dedicated to state,
national, and international periodicals. Either the county ones are more
closely related to the answer they are seeking (worth the time to check
annual indexes) - or they are pulling them because of the placement as they
always go to the geographical region for their ancestor first. We do catalog
periodicals.

Subject: [Genealib] Genealogy periodical usage

Hi, All:

Has anyone done a survey on how much their genealogy periodicals are used?
Does cataloging them increase their chances of being used more? Ours are not
cataloged and appear on our web site on a separate page.

Besides these questions, I welcome any and all comments regarding such
usage.

Thanks,
