I have only received two replies off-line, and would appreciate some
additional input. Our situation has heated up with a newspaper article
this morning which had information given to the press, but not to us!
Now we have learned that the lockers are to be open to museum patrons as
well as archives patrons. This raises even more issues, especially
since there cannot be enough lockers in the small space available for
them to accommodate both sets of patrons. Then what do you do when
library patrons have nowhere to stash their belongings that are not
allowed in the library? The noise and traffic this will generate just
outside our door is another nightmare in the works.
This is turning into one of those "Be careful what you ask for, you just
may get it!" situations.

Subject: patron lockers
We are getting a bank of lockers (have no idea what kind or even what
color!), so I have a couple of questions for those of you with lockers
for patron use:
* Our lockers will not be in the Library, but in an adjacent hall,
away from the Library desk. If you have a similar setup, who directs
the patrons to the lockers and informs patron of items prohibited from
the Library, then enforces placement of prohibited items into the
lockers?
* Are the lockers required to be emptied every night?
* If so, who cleans out the lockers and who is responsible for the
contents removed? Any accommodation made for people who want to leave
items for the next day's use?
* Do you make any provisions for wet umbrellas (plastic bags,
umbrella stand) and oversized items (depending where patron has parked,
returning something to the car may be difficult)?
* Do you provide clear zip bags for patrons to carry money,
pencils, etc.?
Please reply off-line unless interest is expressed in sharing with the
full list: susan.scouras at wvculture.org
