We have some hundreds of maps up and viewable on our web site in Digital
Collections. However, many of them are too big to see easily, and what
was done 10 years ago when they were put on the Net was to use a program
called Mr. SID. It has fixed levels of enlargement, but is clunky to use
- it doesn't slide sideways or smoothly zoom in as Google Maps/Earth do
(we know that there are different technologies at work).
What we are looking for is a cheap and easily useable bit of software
that we could retrofit onto these images to make them easier for patrons
to use.
I have heard of Magic Lens, Archon, and Street Print. But what else have
people been using? We have access to ContentDM but that does not really
do what we need.
