West Virginia--A Film History, produced in 1995 and shown on West
Virginia Public Television and on PBS stations nationwide, has been hard
to find on the original VHS cassettes for years, but is now available as
a two CD set through the West Virginia Humanities Council for $29.95
(plus tax and shipping), http://www.wvhumanities.org/. (It may be sold
through other outlets as well, but I do not know for sure.)

The West Virginia Archives has three searchable databases (Images,
Transcripts and Inventory) posted at
http://www.wvculture.org/history/wvmemory/filmint.html that you can use
to explore/identify the photographs, film and sound clips, and
transcripts of the narration, used in the creation of both this 6 1/2
hour documentary as well as a half-hour documentary, The West
Virginians, that aired the following year. Some of these materials are
in the West Virginia Archives and History collections, but source
citations are provided for all that could be properly credited. The
image database contains over 5000 images that appeared in the final
version and in the outtakes.

Any of your genealogist patrons with West Virginia roots would gain
great understanding of their ancestors through this documentary.
