We have a Minolta ST-200 [rough cost 6000] for the public to use. It only will scan at 72 dpi, which is OK for obits etc but not for professional quality work. We also have Indus scanners [+/- 30,000], HP desktop scanners [+/- 100] attached to PC's and a Kirtas Bookscan 1200. [+/- 100,000]

Our rule of thumb is to buy the best available for the money that you have. Going cheap is a false economy. OTOH, there is a finite amount of money that you have to spend. A quick Google search seems to indicate that the Bookscan is about 3000. The Bookeye seems to be a lot like our Indus.

OTOH-2, you don't want to have to go back in the future and do it again. Feel free to contact me off list if you would like to discuss further.
