Irene,
Indiana University-Bloomington uses the ST-200 machines in their microform department (in which I worked as a student during my MLS days.) These machines were a little user unfriendly. It was easy to view the film, but once you tried to help patrons scan, edit, and save, the problems would begin. The biggest problem was that after several scans were made the computer would crash. We repeatedly told patrons to save after at least the first five scans, but they didn't always listen. The scans themselves were of pretty good quality and you could do minor edits with the scan software which would help if the film was badly damaged. We did our own mini-digitization project for film that was fragile, so that it wasn't constantly being used.
I hope this helps a little.
Thanks,
