[Genealib] Michigan abolishes Dept. of History, Arts and Libraries

Shock and awe tactics! We are living through a very desperate economic climate. This can be interpreted as an attack on education and the intelligentsia or a desperate move to wake up the population.
What does this mean for the material in the Library of Michigan. Hopefully we will hear from librarians, curators and archivists directly involved. Rumors abound as to the disposition of "the books." It can only be hoped that the baby is not thrown out with the bath water.
let us hope that the material is moth balled instead of being disposed.
