RAILROAD BOYS: THE STORY OF THE 89TH ILLINOIS VOLUNTEER INFANTRY
REGIMENT (1862-1865) by Thomas A. Pearson, M.S.L.S.
This paperback book is a history of the 89th Illinois Infantry
Regiment, also known as the Railroad Regiment. The regiment
participated in the battles of Stones River, Liberty Gap, Chickamauga,
Missionary Ridge, Pickett’s Mill, and Nashville, and was also involved
in the Atlanta Campaign. The following Illinois counties furnished 20
or more men for the regiment: Cook, Franklin, Henry, Iroquois,
Jackson, Kane, Kendall, Knox, Lee, Perry, McDonough, and Rock Island
counties.
