[Genealib] Genealogy Room Set-up

I'm delighted I'm not alone in my opinion on genealogy collection arrangements. I have my home collection arranged that way. <smiling>
My comment about the OPAC is- yeah- it can be helpful but usually- the OPAC in the genealogy room is not located near the collection itself- so you look on the OPAC, go to the shelf, realize- nope that's not it- go back to the OPAC, look, go back to the shelves....
I've seen in a couple of fancy library photos (not genealogy libraries) an OPAC among the shelves. That would be very helpful if there was an OPAC at the end of a couple of shelf units and in the middle of a row . Especially for those libraries that have row after row of shelves. Perhaps a lap top with wireless could be mounted on a shelf with a sign noting "catalog is available here". Yes, I know- that costs.....
