Our Society supported library is strictly research.

My Edition Four of a two volume set, of basic genealogy and military research
should be ready by March 2009.

Here is a brief on the work:

RESEARCHING MORE THAN 3,600 MEN

This tale is about the challenge to gather basic genealogy and historic data
on each man lost while in the US Submarine Service during WWII. With a few
exceptions, these men, were not related to each other or to the author. The
usual war memorials contain a name, rate or rank, service number and other bits
of information. There often is not much else that tells about the person.

A need to develop, at least, a basic genealogy with details about each entry
was thought to be important, especially to remind family members and relatives
that this man will not be forgotten. The work has gone through three
Editions, utilizing available conventional search resources.

On November 1, 2007, the US Navy announced the release of WWII records at the
St. Louis National Archives. Research has been ongoing since that time to
fill in the missing data and make changes to prior entries. This effort has
resulted in the compilation of Edition Four. Three awards have been received for
this work.
SOURCES of DATA:
Each man's record has been researched, using a number of sources, such as
Census records, available family records and recently utilizing the primary
source materials at the National Archives. Data has been extracted, compiled and
published. When photos were found, they would be processed for use on a web
site. The set of two volumes may be available at your genealogy center or in
your County Library. The work includes a basic genealogy and military historic
record on each one of more than 3,600 US Submarine men lost during WWII.

A US Submarine combat veteran of WWII, privately publishes it.
