Our policy is that personal scanners may be used if the hand-held scanner
does not touch the page or for scanners where the book is placed on the
glass if the book does not have to be opened enough to damage the spine.
Digital cameras may be used if there is no flash and the photography is done
where it does not disturb any other patrons.
All use of scanners and cameras is on a case-by-case basis.
No materials housed in the Rare Book Room may be photocopied, scanned or
photographed.

Susan's being absolutely straightforward about digital cameras, etc. They
are NOT going away. This is a hot topic, and I hope there will be many
responses to her inquiry. I definitely would like to know how this issue is
being handled by those of you having camera policies.
