Another thing is that if you want to reformat things, you have to get
permission. All the digitizing that my library has done, has been of
only our own material, as we cannot legally use "other owned" materials.
That another reason why a deed of gift should incorporate a phrase
similar to "using technologies now in existence or that may become
available from time to time". It may sound silly but the agreements I am
laboring with were signed before Xerography was invented (in Rochester ,
no less...), and therefore we can't even allow photocopying! That way
when "live action holography" or whatever, is invented in 2250, the
library will be covered.
