Genealogy Workshop: Exploring the 1940 Census (Off-site)
On February 21st at 11:00 am, at the Bethpage Library in Bethpage, NY, the National 
Archives will be holding its workshop concerning the 1940 census for the general public 
and genealogists. The 1940 Census was the sixteenth enumeration of the United States 
population.  Created originally to measure the population and apportion representative 
accordingly, these records contain vital material for genealogists.  Though scheduled for 
general release in April 2012, this workshop will prepare researchers for uncovering their 
family's past as soon as the information is made public.  Coming near the end of the Great 
Depression, the 1940 census also measured the human experience of unemployment, income, 
migration, and government relief.

Genealogy Workshop: What Court Records Reveal About Your Ancestors (Off-site)
On February 25th at 7:00 pm, at the Huntington Library in Huntington, NY, the National 
Archives will be holding a workshop for the general public and genealogists.  Was your 
grandpa a bootlegger or a pirate?  Did your great-grandmother not pay her taxes?  These 
issues and more will be explored in this workshop that gives essential tips to finding 
your family in the National Archives extensive court records.   Learn about how the 
Federal Court system works and the genealogical material that can be discovered through 
such records.
