Hello all,

Sometime in the last two or three weeks, I read a story on a website about why you can’t find your people in the census. I believe the link to it came from this list. It could have been posted longer ago than two weeks as I’m usually behind getting my mail read for my lists.

The story was about a census taker going to the household where a child was watching the younger children. She didn’t want to bother the immigrant parents so she answered the questions. She changed their given names, ages, birthplaces, etc. The story followed the same family (the parents) through the census years in the same house, but with different answers in each census.
