Pam
We have not changed our policy in the five and one-half years I have worked here. We do look-ups in our obituary file, newspaper microfilmed archives, city directories, cemetery transcriptions, and local history collection in response to requests received.
If the requestor is local and able, we encourage them to come in and we provide guidance for them to conduct the search(es). Otherwise, we request a $2.00 to $5.00 donation to our Friends organization, depending on the time required for the search. If we are unable to locate the information, we do not request the donation.
Regarding InterLibrary Loans, we only pass on any charges required by the lending institution - typically for copies from a periodical or reference book.
I hope this is helpful.
