I also checked the 1949 (Second) Edition of the Dictionary of
Occupational Titles. Volume 1 - Definitions of Titles. Washington, DC:
Government Printing Office. [Prepared by the U.S. Employment Service,
Division of Occupational Analysis.]
No such thing as a molter or moulter listed there either.
FYI - "The Dictionary was developed to provide a major source to which
the public employment service worker could turn for occupational
information." The first edition was published in 1939. The descriptions
were based on actual visits by job analysts all over the country. The
1949 edition has over 40,000 job titles in 1500 pages of small print
with terse descriptive paragraphs for each.
