[Genealib] Terrific article - Zanesville, OH librarian - ...and
there was my family laid out in front of me. Right in front of me!

I imagine that most of us working in genealogy have had similar things happen. I was working in a Family History Center when one woman lamented not being able to find her family in west New York. She had been looking for years, had spent lots of money on films, etc. Off the top of my head, I said, "You do realize that there is a town named West New York in New Jersey on the Hudson River, don't you?" She looked at me blankly, and I pulled out a film that I had ordered that included the soundex for the census she wanted. Within 10 minutes, we had located her families.

I was at an LDS Family Center one time when a lady called up and talked to the attendant. She calmly hung up and announced to the room "Get this, that lady said she wants her entire family tree, and would be by in 10 minutes to pick it up!" :-) The whole place erupted in laughter.......So much for patron privacy, but it was a hoot.

Tom
Boy don't we ALL wish for situations like this. I was in a library in IN one
day searching for Day family and the librarian said oh you are going to be
delighted. We have lots on this family. When she went to the file to obtain
it, it was missing! So thanks for sharing this anyway. Maybe someday...
