I liked a lot of the Footnote content, but I hated the display. Instead of
one link for each document, it listed a link for each page of the document
with that search name. Very cluttered. I also could never find a way to
read an entire document. My wife's family members were only on certain
pages, but we could not figure out how to read the earlier pages to hunt for
other surnames of recognition. The personal pages are aggravating.
Tried to get a trial on NewsBank, but they never contacted me after talking
to a guy at conference.

We are very lucky here in that we have a good relationship with our IT
people. If we need them to install a newer version of any required software
to use a database, they are glad to do it.
BTW, Footnote is very cool - my Dad is in there serving at Pearl Harbor.
When I printed out the list of fellow submariners for him last Dec 7th, he
was very animated at seeing the names of the men he served with back in
1941!. (unsolicited testimonial.)
