They are not identical as Bowen's is much briefer, but it is what the
folks at Qualla Boundary (the name of the reservation for the Eastern
Band of Cherokee) in North Carolina have people begin with when they
come to do genealogical research. I asked at a workshop conducted by
someone who assists people with their Cherokee genealogy at the library
in Qualla Boundary why that and not the larger multi-volume set and he
could not tell me why, but they have both. They feel the Bowen book is
excellent and useful and is the best place to start. Wish I could tell
you more;
I have both and until I know a lot more on researching Native American
ancestors, I will keep both.
