Hi,

Please note: This is not a formal book review of the book "Ship Island,
Mississippi: Rosters and History of the Civil War Prison" by Theresa
Arnold-Scriber and Terry G. Scriber, nor am I trying to sell any copies.

Since I was curious enough about the contents of this book, I borrowed a
copy to review for possible addition to our collection. I did not purchase
a copy (yet) due to price and the fact that there's not too much NJ
content, however, I wanted pass on an observation to the list members
regarding roster content just-in-case one of you is pondering the purchase.

Among the chapters are several rosters of the men imprisoned on Ship
island. These POW rosters list soldiers from: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida,
Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina,
Tennessee, Confederate, Navy. Surprisingly, in the chapter titled "Union
Dead" there are quite a few men from the states of Maine (14th, 15th,
etc.), Connecticut (9th, 12th) and Michigan (6th).

Best wishes,
Paula Manzella
