Judy Riffel,
In our church group (LDS), which is essentially a genealogical society in
itself - we network with family history research on purpose - this is the
disclaimer for privacy in connection with the online membership directory.

"Central Point 1st Ward Membership Directory
*Note:* Information on this page is for Church use only and is not to be
used for any commercial, business, or political purpose. Click *Feedback* to
contact your administrator if you do not want information about yourself or
your family to show on this page."

The website is only available to members of the ward who have registered and
been approved by the administrator (membership clerk).

Maybe that will help.
