Actually I believe it is the responsibility of the author to ensure that what they are writing about is accurate.
As a publisher, if I fact checked every piece of information in a title I would average publishing one title every three years.
That said, I believe that it behooves all organizations to be aware of what is said about them and to act accordingly.
If we remove from our shelves every book that is not accurate and refuse to purchase a book because it has errors there is not going to be much on our shelves.
I once used to talk with someone who found fault with every book that was written about the county where she lived.
It was not until she published her own book that she became quiet on the subject.
All books have errors. Genealogists accept this premise. Personally the saying that allows me to sleep best at night is, "If it is in print, it is wrong." Fortunately, sometimes it is not.
