[Genealib] Feature in genealogy room at library

Phyllis Rickard,
I have found that the amount of tables to visitors is important.
To many to walk around is not good.
Arrangment of books is the most important as a researcher and volunteer
myself.
Arrangement by state then county within the State.
I wish our local library room was like this.
Salisbury's Gene room is a perfect example.
We have tried to set our Broad River GS Library up like Salisbury NC.
I hate it when the State Records I am looking for are all spread out.

I know that surname variations are difficult to deal with, but many
genealogy programs will allow you to have a different spelling from father
to son, etc. In my community in rural Cleveland County, North Carolina, I
discovered two spellings of Greene/Green among living family members. In
this case I was told that one family wanted to make sure that their surname
was distinguishable from the color "green."
I don't know if this is any help or not, but I thought I'd pass it along
anyway.

Hello all,
Our genealogy society has offered to buy us a display case to house a large
1743 Bible that we own. I have not been able to find a suitable case in
library catalogs. I've looked briefly online, but my keywords do not seem
to be bringing up exactly what they want. They have in mind a pedestal-type
case, and of course I'd like something that would block UV light, etc. Does
anyone know of a good source for museum-type cases? Any help appreciated,
as always.

Hello.
I am interested in hearing from any public library who has a room dedicated
to genealogy/local history. I have a couple of questions about the room
itself - not the collection.
1) What do you feel is the best physical feature of the room? An arrangement
of tables to shelves? equipment? a specific piece of furniture?
2) What would you change about your existing room?
Thank you.
