[Genealib] dedicated room

I am going to answer for 2 libraries in my area, both in Southern California.

1) Fullerton Public Library has a 'local history room' called the Launer Local History Room. It is a separate room and open only certain hours. While not designated for Genealogy research, it does contain a wealth of information that would be helpful to genealogists. There is one person who is the 'curator'.

2) Orange CITY Library has a separate room with staffing in its main branch. I don't know if the staff is specifically trained, but it does have ancestry on 2 computers in the room.

Both of these libraries are significant in the county because they were among the first started in the area.

Hello.

I am interested in hearing from any public library who has a room dedicated to genealogy/local history. I have a couple of questions about the room itself - not the collection.

1) What do you feel is the best physical feature of the room? An arrangement of tables to shelves? equipment? a specific piece of furniture?

2) What would you change about your existing room?

Thank you.
