[Genealib] humidification

The Northeast Document Conservation Center has numerous
preservation leaflets online. One deals
exclusively with temperature and humidity.

Since our genealogy collections are likely to contain old
and/or rare books, the NEDCC guidelines
are relevant. While all collections would benefit from the
conditions recommended for special
collections, temperature/humidity variations in general
stacks over a large area are difficult to
maintain. Putting human comfort into the mix adds
additional complication.

Subject: [Genealib] humidification

I am trying to discover information about optimal
humidification standards and guidelines for genealogy
libraries. I am doing a google search, as well as an ALA
search, but am mostly coming up with book reviews.

does anyone have this information at their fingertips? what
has your experience been with humidification in genealogy
libraries? are the recommendations different than they
would be for the "regular" part of the library?

thank you!
