Whilst trying to do a short term personal/home subscription to Footnote, I tripped up and accidentally subscribed for a year. Dummy me. However, I have found the Naturalization record sets to be extremely helpful, especially for the States that have actual documents rather than indexes. Pennsylvania's Natl's are divided into East, Middle, Western PA. and are especially useful for the Natl's of 1895-1910 influx of Europeans. The FBI Files are cool, too! I've used my personal subscription when on duty at my library, but only to do favors for my personal friends. I'm morally torn to offer images to the general public from my personal subscription. I just inform them of the existence of Footnote and encourage them to give it a try; the ability to purchase single images for $1.95, or the short term subscriptions, are good for the home researcher, I think is great. I doubt that my small library can justify purchasing a library subscription; I'd have to wait for my County Library System to buy into it. How much is the Library Edition Subscription?
I find their searches to be a little klutzy, ditto their menu of available databases. The database list seems to take so long to load. Once you find an image worth saving, that routine is a little klutzy as well. I'll extend my home subscription when it expires.

To all Libraries with subscriptions or thinking of subscribing to Footnote.com... My library is looking to purchase a subscription but wanted a little feedback from user community. We had an interesting conversation among staff here about the database and want to know how useful was the database? One of our concerns was that we found very little use in terms of African American genealogy. Anecdotal and quantitative responses are welcomed.
