For many years I have wanted to do a genealogy lock-in at our library. I have asked questions of many people on this list and saved any other messages pertaining to a lock-in.

I am so excited!! Last night we held our first lock-in and it was a success! People had to pre-register for the night. The library closed at 6 and the lock-in was from 7-11. As we had 16 computers available for public use, there were 16 sign-up slots. There was an additional sign-up sheet if anyone was planning to bring their own wireless-ready lap top.

There were 18 people registered, one had something come up and gave us permission to give away her slot if we needed to do so. Two people brought their own computers.

There were several people who were able to locate information they had been searching for for years!! (I was so excited, it felt like I'd made a break-through in my own research!) Many people asked when we were going to do another one! All but two stayed until 11.

My Director stayed for it and helped with questions. There were just the two of us on staff last night. We were busy.

Thank you to everyone who patiently answered my questions over the last couple of years and thank you to those who posted info about their own lock-ins.
