[Genealib] FamilySearch Center

Our Library signed an agreement with GSU in 2001 to be able to borrow
FHL films. We charge 50 cents more than the current family history
center rental fees of $5.50, to cover any administrative expenses. On
the other hand we offer longer hours and more machines than some of the
other family history centers in our area.

The software program GSU provides helps us keep track of customers and
films ordered/received, and reminds us when films are due to be
returned. The shipping boxes they send make it easy to return the
films, at no additional cost.

Currently it is necessary for us to call in orders, rather than send
them electronically, because GSU's online system would require us to
lift a firewall which we are unwilling to do.

Overall we have been very satisfied with the service received from Salt
Lake City, and believe our customers are happy with the access we
provide.

Subject: [Genealib] FamilySearch Center

I have been contacted by the Genealogical Society of Utah to have my
library become a FamilySearch Center, which would allow our patrons to
borrow microfilm from FamilySearch for a small fee. Has anyone else made
this agreement with them and if so, how is it working out? Thanks.
