I have noticed in the last 6 months - year, that the number of marriages recorded in our local paper has declined.
Does this reflect that more people are living together than marrying? Or could it be a disinterest in reporting it?
The same thing is true with the births, in fact, they have not been reported in our paper for 3 months. This could be because of a reorganization, but I am not sure. The births have - for the last several years - shown up in the Sunday paper.
I am wondering if this could be because of privacy issues? could it be lack of interest? time? or not enough interest for the paper to place them there.
I have emailed the local paper about the births, but have yet to receive a reply from them.
And how will this affect future generations of people searching for their relatives? Does it seem that there is less free information out there?
Any thoughts?
