Sandy, On Heritage Quest all of the censuses are available through the browse method. Not all censuses are indexed.

Cheri
I would state that your best investment would be to get subscription databases.
Ancestry.com has Ancestry Library Edition that is available to public libraries. Contact them directly for fee. Its not cheap but best way to go. With microfilm you have no search feature so indexes must be prepared and this is labor intensive. With online databases you can search without having this problem.
Another subscription database is:
Heritage Quest
While it does not have all the census it does contain quite a bit of info. Contact me off list if you want more details on these two databases.

I need the collective wisdom out in the land of all-knowing genealogists. I may have the opportunity to purchase census records, thanks to a generous donor. Who do I contact about this, is it available in fiche/film/CD, and approximately what is the cost? Our new library will open in September with a genealogy room. For the past year, I have been accumulating information shared by all of you, and it has helped me purchase new equipment, books, and given me a lot of guidance in the "how to" start up. Thanks to all of you, Cheri
