I formerly headed this department; my first job out of library school. I can tell any interested applicants that it is a nice medium-sized collection, that is very strong in Louisiana courthouse microfilm (rivaling New Orleans Public), and that it has two solid support groups. I am glad to see that the position has upgraded from a Librarian II to a Librarian III.

annual materials budget of nearly $1,000,000. A 10-year 5.26 mills
property tax was passed in 1996. This has provided for the expansion of

which serves as a resource center for the southeastern portion of the
parish, opened in April, 2000, and has the highest circulation of any
outlet in the system. The Genealogy Collection is one of the largest in
the South.
