Craig, the web reference I found for the Montgomery Co. census said the census (of vets and widows) originally came from the beginning of the Montgomery Co. tax list at the GA Archives (not microfilmed) and was published in "A History of Montgomery County, Georgia to 1918" by Robert Scott Davis, Jr. Census information includes soldier's name, unit, and post office (in 1906), date and place of enlistment and discharge.

Are these lists of Civil War pensioners, soldiers and widows? Virginia has
pension lists done year by year listing the pensioner and the dollar value
of their pension for the year and I wonder if the lists are similar.
