I love the idea too. Thanks Mara.
This past Christmas we had a Victorian all day brunch (snacks.) Staff
got to dress up in gowns from that era. We had a Victorian Party Menu
that consisted of scones, oatmeal cookies, Fig Newtons, animal crackers,
tootsie rolls, Cocoa-Cola, Pepsi and Ginger Ale --- all originating from
the 1890's!!!
In addition, we gave each volunteer a preservation packet that included
samples of acid-free materials and a free booklet on preservation. I
asked Gaylord if they would be willing to send us 35 of them as a
donation and they did!
We were pleased at the results and I have to tell you that I loved
wearing my hoop skirt. <g>
Pam
PS - Many of the staff of all library all want to dress up in Victorian
or Edwardian gowns more often, so we are selecting certain days of the
year to dress up. This all started with Family History Month. Now I have
half a closet with hoop skirts and gowns. <G>
