[Genealib] locking up the microform reader/printer lenses

We also have two lenses for our Canon reader/printer. (Yes, they are
expensive, but the second one was one of my best buys ever.) It's been
completely unmolested for the 7+ years we've had it. The spare lens is kind
of strange-looking and spiky and I've never even seen a customer touch it.
Actually, I'd be more afraid of visiting librarians than anyone else.

Subject: [Genealib] locking up the microform reader/printer lenses
We have a new Minolta 6000 microfilm/microform reader/printer with 2 lenses
of different magnifications. I know that these lenses are expensive and we
are debating wether or not to lock them up in a drawer or something. Now, I
don't like to lock things up because then they can only be used with staff
help but I also don't want to lose them. Has anyone ever lost one of these
lenses to theft?
Thanks,
Elaine Hayes
