John,

Thanks for the leads! The Streetprints display is much closer to what I had in mind. I'm also intrigued by Archon. We'll definitely investigate those.

I appreciate the ideas!

Linda

Open Source alternatives:

Archon @ http://www.archon.org/
Streetprint @ http://www.crcstudio.arts.ualberta.ca/streetprintorg/
Archivist Toolkit @ http://www.archiviststoolkit.org/
Greenstone @ http://www.greenstone.org/cgi-bin/library

We have not gone live yet but we are using a combination of Archon to host finding aids and some digital objects and Streetprint to host digital exhibits and photograph collections. Simple admin/user interfaces and very comprable to the functionality of Content DM or Pastperfect.

contact me offlist if you want to discuss in detail.

thanks
John

	Hello,

I've tried the archive without much success, so am turning to you for help. We've been digitizing our local history photos and cataloging them in Access. We're considering purchasing PastPerfect (which I really like) for overall management. However, I'm looking for an alternative to their Virtual Exhibit module-something a little more sleek and browsable for web viewers who are more interested in the photos than the cataloging info. Does anyone out there use PastPerfect but have a different software for online photo displays? Or, do you have a PastPerfect alternative that you love for this purpose? (Unfortunately, ContentDM is probably beyond our budget for the moment.)

	Suggestions welcome. Thanks!
