Good answer with the thesis and dissertations, Annewhite!!  I had not
thought of that yet.  To chime in .... I would, like many, go
microfilm shopping ... so all that other stuff Annewhite mentioned, as
relevant for my world, along with the newspapers for my big cities
(Baltimore and DC, along with the African American newspaper for those
communities) and, what the heck, a whole new set of my own newspapers,
and if I could spend it on creating microfilm I would have all our
counties' small papers filmed.  I would then start poking around in
what NARA might have to offer, with special emphasis on the Civil War,
and I've been meaning to get the Ag Censuses for years!! Just a start
