I posted to the list a couple of months ago about a software program for a friend of mine who is doing personal research and got some great responses! Thank you! Based on those responses, I advised my friend to look at Bygones. He sent me the following reply...

"I did look at Bygones and it seems pretty complicated to me. I am MAC based and prefer not to use my Parallels
for MAC to access XP unless it is really necessary so Clooz won't work for me. I have spent the time transcribing hand-written documents so that they are now searchable.

I wonder if you have experience with personal Wikis? Would that work so that every place name, person name, etc. could be hyperlinked. What I'd like it to do would be show me all the references to any hyperlinked item in whatever document it occurs."

I do not know anything about Wikis....OR Macs. Can anyone give me an idea of the benefits of having a personal wiki over a searchable database? My idea is that wikis are good if you want outside collaboration - but my experience only extends to Wikipedia...

If you would like to respond offlist - please email me at bklingen at comcast.net
Thank You
