One thing to keep in mind, also, is that the nuclear family isn't as
nuclear as it used to be. Kids these days have to deal with
understanding how to record biological parents...step parents...second
and third marriages for parents and grandparents...
It's essential to be sensitive to the kids that don't have the
traditional family group to add to their charts. We've had to try and
carefully help children who are adopted also.
I've found that teachers often think this is a great, easy thing for
their students to work on, and sometimes it's a bit trickier than they
realize.
