[Genealib] Interlibrary loan of genealogy books

There's a very different philosophy about ILL in university libraries; see ACRL's "Guidelines for the Interlibrary Loan of Rare and Unique Materials" ( <http://www.ala.org/ala/acrl/acrlstandards/rareguidelines.htm> http://www.ala.org/ala/acrl/acrlstandards/rareguidelines.htm), for example. Similarly, universities and others who are members of RLG are encouraged to adopt RLG's very liberal interlibrary loan guidelines, which include, among other things, "SHARES partners lend dissertations, theses, and other normally noncirculating material generously. Borrowers should attempt to locate a circulating copy before sending a request for material in a special collection or noncirculating collection. No per-request limit should be placed on the number of volumes or microform reels to be supplied."
I have to admit that I was surprised when this was first pointed out to me, as the option to ILL Special Collections materials had never been mentioned when I was in grad school studying medieval English literature.

Years ago I heard someone give a presentation on this subject. The speaker encouraged listeners to try borrowing genealogy books from university libraries, because (genealogically speaking) "they don't care what they have." Unquote.

I'm giving an Interlibrary loan presentation later this week and am curious to know what type of ILL policies other genealogy libraries have in place. Do you loan your genealogy books, and if so, do you have any restrictions?
As an example, we will typically loan family and local histories but will only photocopy pages from record indexes and abstracts. We also have restrictions based on condition, size, and multi-volume sets.
Thanks for your time.
