We have two Canon MS300. They are easy to load and operate, but be sure
to buy the framing kit for easier printing. You can either use a kit to
hook up through your intranet system and print to an intranet printer,
or you can buy a stand alone printer for connection only to the machine.
It depends on how your intranet system works.

The one real disadvantage is, because the microfilmed newspapers have an
uneven appearance (dark and light on the same page) the automatic
adjustment for light and dark when printing does not work well. The
framing kit helps resolve this issue by allowing you to isolate just the
one article you want printed.

Subject: [Genealib] microfilm scanners ScanPro & Minolta

Our public library is in the process of raising money for new microfilm
machines. The patrons who will be the using the machines are primarily
genealogists of all ages and computer abilities. They would be viewing &
printing from census and newspapers. We have had a demo on the ST-200
and will soon have one on the ScanPro 1000. We already have a Minolta
6000, but we've had problems with the digital printer.

If you had to choose 6 microfilm units, which would you buy? If a
combination, which machines and the number. If you could only purchase
one type which would be the one to buy? I've read the comments about the
ST-200, so now I'm looking for more information on the other products.
What are their advantages/disadvantages.

Thanks for the help.
