[Genealib] Ancestry Library Edition

Phyllis, were you able to have "remote" access to Ancestry.com through the State Library? Our Napa City-County Library subscribes to Heritage Quest and we are able to access it from our own computers by simply identifying ourselves with our library card number. I called Ancestry and was told if a library subscribes to Ancestry.com, patrons are not allowed to have a remote access as we are able to do with Heritage Quest.

This probably doesn't answer your question but it seems any questions regarding Ancestry.com always brings up a new can of worms. It's very frustrating! They are so expensive that a small non-profit library such as ours, is unable to subscribe.

Is there anyone on here who is subscribed to Ancestry Library Edition for their own library as opposed to having access through a State Library (for example)? If so, would you please contact me directly? I have a couple of questions.

  Thank you.
