At the Algonquin Area Public Library in Illinois we have had great
success with Saturday morning workshops (9:30-12:30) and our "after
hours" workshops on Friday nights (4:30-10:00pm). We usually have a
short informational presentation (Kristen Smith and I are the "genealogy
friendly librarians" who plan presentations on different topics of
interest OR we hire outside speakers for about an hour) and then provide
one on one assistance and share our expertise with patrons personal
research. Saturday mornings we use our 14 laptops and Friday evenings
we use all the public computers (21) and the laptops! Both are popular,
though the after hours workshop is gaining in popularity! We had 24
"genealogy patrons" last fall! We also allow them FREE printing during
our workshops!
Patrons who attend our workshops are of all different levels, from
beginner to advanced. We find that beginners really like having the
individual help without feeling rushed or that they are taking too much
of our time. Advanced patrons usually want the free access to Ancestry
and our fast computers to make their research time more efficient!

List:
For those who hold workshops - beginning through advanced and anything
in between - what day(s) or time of day brings in the most attendance?
Thanks!
