It's nice that the Board of Trustees has "the considerable expertise and contributions of
Anita Lustenberger, CG, FASG, who is the one professional genealogist on the board of the
NYGBS," and "Meriwether Schmid, FGBS," although the Chairman of the Board did say at
http://www.newyorkfamilyhistory.org/download/pdf/q&a_06_2007.pdf that every member of that
Board voted in favor of the revisions to the by-laws.

"Q: Who's behind this drive for governance reform?
A: Everyone on your board of trustees. The trustees keenly feel their fiduciary duty to
look out for the best interests of the Society. They unanimously agreed, at board meetings
in May and June, to recommend this reform. The trustees and management of the Society are
united in urging that all members join them in voting "Yes.""

An apology:

When I wrote previously, "The board currently doesn¹t include even one
trustee who has a day-to-day, in-the-field working knowledge of genealogy,"
I in no way meant to dismiss the considerable expertise and contributions of
Anita Lustenberger, CG, FASG, who is the one professional genealogist on the
board of the NYGBS, or Meriwether Schmid, FGBS. I was referring to the
absence of those on the board who run other genealogical societies,
repositories, and related organizations in New York. I could have worded my
comment better.

My sincere apologies to Anita and Meriwether for any unintended slight.
