an Ancestry.com spokesperson which stated:
"Ancestry Library does not include the following collections: Family &
Local Histories, Historical Newspapers, OneWorldTree, Filby's Passenger
and Immigration Lists Index, Biography & Genealogy Master Index (BGMI),
and Freedman's Bank Records. "

I encountered another difference today--one which really surprised
me. For the 1890 Special Census of Union Veterans, the full-blown
"consumer version" gives you everything you get for regular federal
censuses--including images, but ALE only gives you the index citation
from Ronald Vern Jackson's old printed indexes (that may not have been
their source, but it matches the fields returned).
