[Genealib] Florida State Census

With the help of volunteers, Jacksonville Public Library is currently
working on an index of the 1945 Florida State census for Duval County. 

First, we scanned the microfilm to create a separate PDF file for each
precinct. Now we are working on an alphabetical name index which will
link each person to the PDF file of the original image. A sample of
scanned precinct can be accessed at:

I am interested to know which other counties have been indexed for 1935
& 1945 and how we might be able to access the indexes. I would like to
compile a list of census indexes available for Florida counties and post
this information online.

Carol:
Florida is so lucky to have these censuses. They are very useful. Our
library owns the complete set of each. There are not as many questions.
In the 1935 census they ask the name, street address, age, race,
relationship to head of family, place of birth, degree of education,
owner or renter and occupations. The 1945 is similar.

Indian River County has both censuses indexed and they are available
online at Florida GenWeb and also at our web site
http://www.rootsweb.com/~flindian/ircl/databases.htm

We are adding the precinct descriptions for 1935. Currently, we have
Alachua through most of Broward. On paper, we have it through Dade
County.

Many groups and organizations in Florida are in the process of indexing
their county.

We have received a flurry of requests lately for the Florida state
census of 1935 and 1945.  I have two questions about these:
 
1. Are they every-name-census similar to the federal dicentennial
census, or are they statistical composites only?  In other words, how
useful are they to genealogists?
 
2.  Where can I purchase these for my library, or are they available to
view online somewhere?
