This is an interesting topic to me, too, since just this week I was looking for online information about cataloging systems/adaptations used in genealogical libraries (eg LDS library, Newberry Library....) for a class paper and couldn't really find any (I had to change my topic). I remember that there was some discussion on this list not so long ago about organizing resources by county, etc., but does anyone know of any websites dealing with this? (I did find a couple of journal articles.) There are dozens or hundreds focusing on the Dewey Decimal System, Library of Congress, etc.....
I thought this would be an interesting subject to pursue, since in the volunteer family history library where I work we are considering making some changes in a cataloging system that at the moment could best be described as "random."
Thanks!
