[Genealib] Genealogical writer and publisher Ruth Sparacio has passed away

Thank you Suzanne for letting us know. She and her husband Sam were
stalwarts; prolific in their indexing, abstracting and publishing of
genealogical content for decades. In addition to family they leave a
legacy of solid contributions to the field.

RUTH L. SPARACIO 

On Tuesday, February 13, 2007, RUTH LUCILE TRICKEY SPARACIO died
peacefully at home in Fulshear, TX. Born in Elk City, OK in 1917, she
was married to the late Sam Sparacio for 53 years. She resided in
McLean, VA for 43 years before moving to Fulshear to live with her
daughter. She was a devoted mother to Alice(James) Murray, Lydia (Steve)
Bontempo, Alex(Doug) Dickman, and Jonathan Sparacio. Much loved by
grandchildren Bethany Dickman, Lindsay (Dickman) Potts, John, Jessica
and Peter Murray, Sarah, Katie and Anna Sparacio. Also survived by one
great-grandchild Morgan Potts. Inurnment will take place at the
Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 12.

Ruth and her husband Sam indexed records of several Virginia counties
and sold them from their home based Antient Press. 

 

Their contributions were commended by:

 

- The HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF FAIRFAX COUNTY, VIRGINIA .... 1993
Certificate of Recognition for significant Historical Contributions.

- The VIRGINIA GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY .... 1995 Award for Exemplary
Contributions in Publishing, Writing or Editing Virginia Genealogical
Source Studies.

- The FAIRFAX COUNTY HISTORY COMMISSION .... 1998 Certificate of
Appreciation in recognition of outstanding contribution to Historic
Preservation.
