The population is 800, according to the latest Official Road Map from the
Texas Department of Transportation.
You never know what good information you can get from local libraries. They
may even be able to point you to the nearest funeral home. Funeral homes
sometimes have info on family members.
Good luck in your search.

Thanks Laurie, I didn't know it was big enough to have a library!

Oops. Didn't check the phone number area code. It is now 432-693-2881.
I found an e-mail address for them: rplcelia at yahoo.com
This is a tiny town in West Texas, midway between El Paso & Austin.

Have you tried contacting the public library in Rankin? They might have
newspaper back files.

Subject: [Genealib] My Daddy's 'shady' death
Can anyone help me out there? My Dad was killed in or right around Rankin
Texas in 1979. The death certificate reads "beat to death by a blunt
instrument". My immediate family at the time told me he was pulled over by
the police, made it to his home in Rankin, Texas, and fell down in the
hallway and died. I can not find any records to dispute or to verify these
accounts. One person who told me this is now dead. The other refuses to
discuss this with me, stating he is afraid and doesn't want the 'cops'
looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life. Both stories were the
same, and came at different times. Please help me to find closure as to how
I lost my Daddy when I was only 11 years old!
Thank you so much!
Here's what I know: Billy George Lee--Born December 11 or 12, 1940 in
Brownwood Texas--died February 1979 in Rankin Texas--Death certificate
statement above. Survived by wife Rosalia, 3 daughters, Laura Lyn, Lisa Ann,
Linda Elaine, and one son, Billy George Lee. My Mother and Daddy had been
split up for a year. As far as I know he was married to Rosalia, and I
definitely have a spanish-only speaking brother with my Dad's name. My
mother's maiden name was Robbie Anne Johnson if that's of any help. We lived
in Midland at the time.
Thanks again for ANY input!!
God Bless
STUMPED
Laura Lee
